JYJ’s Yoochun Discharges From Military And Stirs Debates With New Tattoo

South Korean boyband JYJ’s Park Yoochun finishes his public service duty yesterday and stirs up the public with his large woman face’s tattoo on his arm.

On the day when he finished his military service in the midst of several past controversies, he has added another controversy with his new tattoo. A tattoo of a woman’s face on his left arm was spotted by the media and people who guessed it to be his lover, Hwang Hana. The public was enraged with how a public servant could put on a new tattoo. Netizens criticized the careless attitude of Park saying, “He tattooed her. That’s extreme,” “Does he really wants to retire?” and “You could’ve waited for just some days.”

Park was enlisted in August 2015 and had been working as a public worker in Seoul’s Gangnam District Office until yesterday. Despite the sex scandals and marriage announcement, international fans had gathered at his discharge scene with placards written ‘I Still Support You.’

In front of the press teams, Park said, “I have now finished my 24 months of public duty. I have learnt, felt and thought a lot during my enlistment period. I want to sincerely apologize to my fans through this opportunity. And I want to say thank you to them.” Park also greeted, “I know a lot of people is worried about me and supported me, and I will have time to look back and reflect on myself. Thank you for coming today while you are busy.” Park then gave a 90 degree bow to his fans.

Last June, Park was sued for sexual violence but he was eventually vindicated as innocent on four cases related to sexual violence and assault in March this year by the Seoul Central Local Polices. Park later counter-sued those for false accusations and extortions.

Afterwards, he made an announcement in April this year through his agency, C-JeS Entertainment, that he will marry Hwang Hana, aged 29, in this coming September.

In July, Park posted on his social media, “I wanted to tell everyone that I am really sorry. I wonder even if my body crumble and I cry everyday, that would not be greater than the hurt I gave you. I’m really sorry.” He also revealed, “I want to stand again. It does not depend on my will to start again. I hope one day I will see you again in person and share my heart with you.” He continued, “I’m so sorry that I couldn’t tell you about the marriage in advance. I pray that that day I will see you will come.”
