During the show that was broadcast on April 26, 2015, comedian Park Sung Ho appeared on stage and made comments through photos of Korean male stars.

Park Sung Ho said, “When male artists play soccer, Minho looks manly and XIA Junsu looks cool but Lee Duk Hwa is backdo backdo (T/N: A reference to being back one step on a board game)”. When “XIA” was mentioned in the show, it was censored. The pronunciation of “Junsu” also sounded unclear.

Kim Junsu’s fans immediately slammed the show’s online community.

There were more than 50 posts from fans by the noon of April 26, 2015. They said, “To the artists and fans, this is unacceptable! You should apologize!”, “XIA junsu isn’t a criminal!” and “What mistake did he make that you muted his name during the broadcast? I can’t understand.”

With regards to the matter, producer of the show, Cho Jun Hee, said to Star News, “We muted ‘XIA’ because we were afraid that we might hurt his fans by using the name ‘XIA Junsu’, but it has caused a misunderstanding.”

Cho explained, “During the editing process, we remember that Kim Junsu is active under the names ‘XIA’ or ‘Kim Junsu’, not ‘XIA Junsu’. Even though Park Yoochun and Kim Jaejoong are active under their [real] names, we thought it would be hurtful to fans if we mention Kim Junsu as ‘XIA Junsu’. That’s why we only muted ‘XIA’ and we think it also causes the ‘Junsu’ to sound unclear.”

Cho said, “We did not mute ‘XIA Junsu’ name itself on the broadcast, but we muted ‘XIA’, concerning that is his stage name. We think we have caused an unintentional misunderstanding to fans.”
