TVXQ! and BIGBANG have placed themselves on the 6th place in the Top 50 Album and DVD Chart respectively on Japan’s Oricon Chart for the first half of 2014. Their achievements display their high popularities in Japan.
Oricon, the most authoritative album sales research chart in Japan, recently released the sales ranking for singles, albums and DVDs for the first half of this year to the public on its homepage.
According to this chart, TVXQ!’s Tree album that was released in Japan in last March sold over 263,080 copies and peaked at 6th spot in the Oricon’s Top 50 Album Chart for the first half of 2014. This is the highest among all Korean artists. TVXQ’s TENSE album also had sales of 50,685 copies and recorded 47th place in the same chart.
Girls’ Generation sold over 170,898 copies of Love & Peace album that was released in December last year. The group was at the 14th place of Oricon’s Top 50 Album Chart and they are the only Korean girl group on the chart.
2PM’s Genesis OF 2PM album sold 72,003 copies and got 28th place. Ride Me of Donghae and Eunhyuk from Super Junior sold 50,152 copies and grasped 49th place in that chart. In Oricon’s Top 50 DVD Chart, BIGBANG showed great breakthrough.
BIGBANG sold 81,047 copies of BIGBANG JAPAN DOME TOUR 2013~2014 DVD and occupied 6th place in Oricon’s Top 50 DVD Chart, which is the highest position among Korean artists in the chart.
In the same chart, TVXQ! sold 76,211 copies of TVXQ! LIVE TOUR 2013 ~TIME~ FINAL in NISSAN STADIUM DVD and gained 8th place.
2PM sold 27,176 copies of LEGEND OF 2PM in TOKYO DOME DVD while Super Junior with 26,460 copies of SUPER JUNIOR WORLD TOUR SUPER SHOW 5 in JAPAN DVD. They were at the 35th and 37th place respectively in Oricon’s Top 50 DVD Chart for the first half of 2014.
On the other hand, TVXQ! sold 119,291 copies of Hide & Seek / Something and recorded 26th in Oricon’s Top 50 Single Chart, the highest record among Korean artists. Super Junior rose to 36th place in the same chart, selling over 77,026 copies of Blue World.
